River Usk – Ysbytty Beat

Description

Another middle  beat on the River Usk, that was purchased in 1992. Although we do share Abergavenny Town water the next beat upstream and opposite with ISCA and Gwent Anglers.  The beat starts just above the A465 road bridge at the stream and terminates downstream at the beginning of the woods.  It is Left or east bank only being 1,070 yds long. This beat holds a good head of wild brown trout and the  salmon when the water is right for them.   In spring do not be surprised to see large lamprey moving the stones to make a redd prior to spawning.
