Cyfarthfa/Pontsticill News

On Saturday 5th Dec Dai Fletcher and his friend Jamie fished pegs 38,36 of Cyfarthfa Park and between them landed 5 carp to 8lb 5oz.   On Sunday Jordan Howe from Fernhill landed a 7lb carp (see picture)

Pontsticill Reservoir

Dai Fletcher fished the reservoir last week and had 5 runs and landed 2 pike, as he was unhooking a pike of 9lbs his bite alarm on his other rod sounded, he said I’ve never put a pike back so quickley, he struck into the 2nd pike which decided to do an impression of a marlin and leapt out of the water, eventually Dai landed and weighed the fish at 22lbs picture below

AMENDED RULES FOR 2016

  1.   All Coarse Waters – Only barbless hooks to be used when fishing for coarse fish on all of our waters.   The only exception is that one hook of a treble can have a micro barb when deadbaiting for pike.
  2. Pontsticill Reservoir – Pike fishing – there is now no close season.
  3. Cantref Reservoir – The season on Cantref will now be from 1st March to 30th November in any year for rainbow trout.   The brown trout season will remain the same, 20th March to 17th October

Note: Natural Resources Wales may make catch and release mandatory for salmon fishing.   If this happens we will inform our members via the newsletter and on our web page.

Dolygaer

Although the weather was terrible on Sunday 15th November, it did not stop Sean Thomas from Blackwood having a go at coarse fishing Dolygaer, he fished the roadside of the Reservior and when I spoke to him it was paying off, he had landed a lot of skimmer bream and larger bream to 5lb fishing an open ended feeder.

Weekly News 8th Nov 15

River Taff
Daniel Popp fished the lower River Taff fishing the exchange ticket with Glamorgan Anglers on 25/10/15. Daniel was fly fishing for Grayling with vario​u​s weighted nymphs fished up river. Daniel managed to catch over 20 ​G​rayling between 4 inches to 1 1/2lbs.

Cyfarthfa Lake
Owen Thomas fished Cyfarthfa Lake on 23/10/15. Owen was fishing a two rod setup with a ​rod rig and coconut cream and orange flavored boilies as hook bait. Read more “Weekly News 8th Nov 15” →
