Mike Wagstaff caught 3 salmon of 8lbs 10lbs and 14lb on a flying c in the lagoon on the Ysbytty two of which were returned to the river,. Mike Denny had one on fly of 8lbs again in the lagoon on the ysbytty. Phillip Jehu also had an excellent night on the chub on the same beat.
The Ysbyty water is situated adjacent to the
Sun Valley Poultry Factory at Abergavenny. Access to the factory car park is
only from the roundabout along the A465 towards Merthyr. Mem
bers
have permission to park their cars in the Employees Car Park. No members are to
use the Visitors Car park. This water is clearly marked at the starting and
ending point and is split into 3 beats. It is approximately 1 mile long. The
river holds Salmon, Sea Trout, Brown Trout Chub and Dace, only full members can
coarse fish this water. . All fishermen must book to fish this water be it, for

for 2007 only 4 trout may be killed in any one day.
SALMON
The Environment Agency has introduced a bylaw, which forbids the taking of Salmon until the 16th of June. From the start of the salmon season (3rd March) until the 1st June you may only fly fish for salmon, with flies weighing less than 5 grammes, returning any fish caught. From the 1st of June to the 16th of June you may spin or fly fish for salmon, providing all fish caught are returned to the river.

The main road crossing the river at the top of the beat is being duelled. The contractors are putting in a new bridge across the river, so as the season progresses there may be some disruption.
